HRD's Famous Mongolian Cheesesteak

HRD's Famous Mongolian Cheesesteak

When sharing news of a hole in the wall restaurant that few people know about, one runs the risk of turning a secret into a very well-known place. Lines get longer. It gets harder to find a table. Well, the secret is definitely out about HRD Coffee Shop on 3rd Street, just a stone's throw from AT&T Park.

Guy Fieri's Food Network show, "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" recently featured the place, and its unique blend of Korean and American flavors.

HRD defines Asian fusion- think sweet chili fried chicken and kimchi burritos; and my personal favorite, the Mongolian cheesesteak, pictured here. Think of a regular, juicy cheesesteak, with peppers and mozzarella, but with Mongolian-style beef and Hoisin sauce. Add a hefty pile of crispy fries, and you have a filling, flavorful meal for under $8. Everything at HRD is like the cheesesteak- filling, flavorful and VERY affordable. Due to the recent feature on the Food Network and strong word of mouth, HRD is quite popular, and you should expect a wait. But, it is definitely worth the wait.
