Gelateria Naia: Cold Gelato for a Hot Summer
Admittedly, San Francisco is not known for balmy weather in the summer. There are occasional warm days from June to August, but it is in September and October that our city really warms up. When the hot days come, consider yourself prepared and head to Gelateria Naia in North Beach. Their hand-crafted gelato is the perfect antidote to hot weather.
Gelateria Naia uses local ingredients, from locally grown fruit for their sorbettos- the mango is quite good- as well as chocolate from Guittard Chocolate and Tcho Chocolate, coffee beans from Mr. Espresso and Blue Bottle, and tea leaves from Numi Tea. The friendly staff will allow you to sample any flavor you like, which is necessary with such a wide variety of flavors. Ferrero Rocher, lavender, and even whiskey are just some of the flavors available. Be sure to bring cash, though, since Gelateria Naia is a cash-only establishment.
