District Wine Bar
District is a great wine bar where you can enjoy beer and a selection of cocktails if wine is not your drink of choice. The spacious bar is located on Townsend Street in Soma, and is a good place for both Happy Hour drinks for those who work for the many tech companies in the area, as well as Friday and Saturday nights on the town, if a crowded bar is more your thing.
My experience has been more of a casual one- a nice place to sit on a comfy chair and enjoy the ambience while sharing fries and beer with friends. Yes, District is a wine bar, but I have found the very short beer list to be quite good (my favorites are the Franziskaner Hefeweizen and Lucifer Belgian Ale). The Bellini is also good, but the wine bar is known first and foremost for its wine. The list is broken down in a way that is helpful for non-enologists, with sections like "Big Earthy Reds" and "Spices and Berries". When it comes to snacks, District is known for its $1 oysters during Happy Hour. There are also cheese plates, salads, pizzettas and some VERY good French fries with truffle aioli.
