Gondwana at the Elbo Room
Listed in a recent article "Essential Chilean bands to know! (Before the world ends)", the reggae band Gondwana is set to perform this weekend at both The Elbo Room in San Francisco as well as the Reggae on the River Festival.
This Chilean reggae band formed in 1987 during the Pinochet government, and had to keep a low profile until the political climate eased. However, they´ve never been a band to shy away from political issues, especially those related to the political climate of the times in which they were founded. Their tour dates are all over the globe, the coming months including venues in the USA, El Salvador, Bolivia, Canada, Sweden, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
Recently, I had the opportunity to live in Chile and see a show at Estacion Mapocho, where they played songs from one of their most well known albums "Alabanza;" I can assure you that this is a must-see event, and that it will surely sell out, so get your tickets now.
