Ceu
Brazilian singing sensation Ceu will be making a rare Bay Area appearance at Herbst Theatre as part of the San Francisco Jazz Festival on Friday, May 6th. A lot of buzz has been surrounding Ceu since her self-titled debut album in 2007, and this rare opportunity to see her perform live should not be missed.
Ceu translates to both sky and heaven in Portuguese- this may be all you need to know about the singer's sound. Her music is ethereal and dreamy, romantic and modern, with touches of electronica backing her soft vocals. Her 2007 debut, "Ceu", was a global success, earning her both Grammys and Latin Grammys. Her much anticipated follow-up is called "Vagarosa", which translates to either "slow", "indecisive", or "peaceful". The album features organix acoustic sounds and electronic textures; you can hear the single "Nascente" here.
