Aterciopelados
On July 16, Aterciopelados will be performing at 10:30 p.m. in the lounge at Yoshi's San Francisco. This Colombian duo, Hector Buitrago and Andrea Echeverri, are touring in support of their 2008 album, the politically charged Rio.
Aterciopelados reached their critical and popular peak with 2001's Gozo Poderoso, which Time Magazine listed as one of the top albums of the year. They are known for their tropical sounds, socially conscious lyrics, and the soft, yet powerful voice of singer Andrea Echeverri. The Colombian group doesn't come to the United States often, and to see them in a venue such as Yoshi's should make for a great Saturday night.
