Bachelor Days Are Over
The San Francisco Film Society has presented several film cycles from around the world this fall, like Taiwan and Hong Kong, and will soon be showing several recent French films at French Cinema Now. There will be a variety of films shown- from family drama to comedy to coming of age story- but the one thing all the movies have in common is that they represent a sampling of what moviegoers in France have been seeing in theaters for the last year.
All movies will be shown at the Embarcadero Center Cinema. They include "Bachelor Days Are Over", about a man with cold feet before his wedding day; "The Minister", a political drama about a government minister; "Four Lovers", a drama about two married couples who decide to share partners; and the 2011 Grand Prize Winner at the Cannes Film Festival, "The Kid with a Bike", about a troubled young boy and the young woman who tries to be a positive influence in his life. The movies feature actors known to American audiences like Audrey Tautou (Amelie), Cecile de France (Hereafter) and Nathalie Baye (Catch me if you can). The festival is a real treat for movie lovers everywhere.
