Manifest 770
766 Valencia is home to a new contemporary art space: Incline Gallery. This September, Incline will host the exhibition titled Manifest 770, curated by Scott S. Jennings and mosshouse, SF.
In this exhibition twelve artists will use the history associated with the building and the architectural uniqueness of the series of ramps ascending towards what was once the embalming room, as inspiration for creating photography, paintings, mixed media, video, site-specific installation, mural art and sculpture. The reaction of each artist to the colorful history of the space will manifest itself through each of their respective styles and mediums; the outcome will thread together these artists´ unique vision into one cohesive exhibition.
Mosshouse, founded in August 2010, focuses on the development of independent curatorial programming. They collaborate with artists, curators, critics, historians, journalists, art non-profits, galleries and non-traditional art spaces, with the goal of creating art exhibitions for diverse audiences through collaboration with the greater creative community. Incline Gallery, which opened in December 2010, seeks to offer a nurturing platform and a solid support system for emerging Bay Area visual and performative artists. By reaching out to these artists, curators, and the public at large, Incline Gallery opens its doors to an inspirational and experimental place of growth and community building.
